Industries/Heavy industry
Heavy industry
Mining, metals, cement, pulp and paper, glass and chemicals all run in-plant substations that are now well past their design life. The constraint is usually the outage window, not the capital.
Procurement reality
How this segment buys
- Replacement of ageing in-plant substation transformers, often identified by condition assessment or oil analysis rather than by a capital plan.
- The outage window governs everything — the unit has to be on site and ready before the shutdown, not during it.
- Capital is normally the operator’s own, which generally leaves imported equipment eligible.
- Duty can be demanding, with harmonic content, cyclic loading or arc-furnace service changing the specification.
What we bring to it
Where we fit
- Approximately 8 months from order release, which fits a planned outage far better than a 2.5 to 4 year domestic quote.
- Configuration quoted against your specification — cooling class, tap arrangement, impedance and any loading or overload duty confirmed before quotation.
- Witnessed factory acceptance testing, so the unit is proven before it reaches a plant where a failed commissioning costs production.
- Routine test certificates per serial number for your maintenance and asset records.
Before you evaluate us
What to settle first
Tell us the duty at enquiry stage. Harmonic content, cyclic or furnace loading and unusual ambient conditions all change the design, and it is much cheaper to reflect that in the specification than to discover it in service.
Our units are of foreign manufacture and do not qualify as domestic end products. The eligibility checker on the Trade & Compliance page answers this in three questions.
